FOR the purpose of altering the statute of limitations for the prosecution or enforcement of 4
local consumer protection codes; and generally relating to the statute of limitations 5
for prosecuting or enforcing local consumer protection codes. 6

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 12
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 13

(KK) A PROSECUTION OR SUIT FOR ENFORCEMENT OF A LOCAL CONSUMER 16
PROTECTION CODE FOR WHICH EQUITABLE RELI EF, A FINE , OR A PENALTY IS 17
PROVIDED SHALL BE IN STITUTED WITHIN 3 YEARS AFTER LOCAL AU THORITIES 18
KNEW OR REASONABLY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN OF THE VIOLATION. 19

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 20
October 1, 2026. 21
