Bill H.3608

SECTION 1. Massachusetts Department of Transportation Bridge number H-23-009 located on Fruit street in the town of Hopkinton shall be designated and known as the Major General Frank D. Merrill memorial bridge in recognition of United States Army Major General Frank D. Merrill, who was born in Hopkinton and displayed outstanding courage and leadership during World War II. Major General Merrill led the 5307th Composite Unit, later nicknamed Merrill's Marauders, which fought in 5 major engagements and 32 skirmishes in the mountainous jungles of the South-East Asian theater resulting in each member being awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.

SECTION 2. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers on the bridge bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
