Bill H.4718

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding sections 58 and 58A of chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, no person shall be eligible to have their name certified for original appointment to the position of a police officer in the city of Newton if such person has reached their thirty-ninth birthday on the date of the entrance examination; provided, however, that any veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age limit set forth herein by the number of years served on active military duty, but in no case shall said veteran candidate for appointment be credited more than 4 years of active military duty.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
