An Act amending the charter of the town of North Attleborough
By Representative Scanlon of North Attleborough and Senator Feeney, a joint petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 5426) of Adam J. Scanlon and Paul R. Feeney (with the approval of the town council) relative to amending the charter of the town of North Attleborough. Municipalities and Regional Government. [Local Approval Received.]

Bill H.5426

SECTION 1. Section 2-4(b) of article II of the charter of the town of North Attleborough, as on file with the office of the archivist of the commonwealth pursuant to section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the word “section” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- subsection.

SECTION 2. Section 3-1(a) of article III of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Park Commission” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Parks and Recreation Commission.

SECTION 3. Section 3-1(d)(2) of article III of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “(a), above” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- (d)(1).

SECTION 4. Section 5-4(a) of article V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “three members” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- five members.

SECTION 5. Section 5-8(b) of article V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “81Y” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- 81GG.

SECTION 6. Section 7-3 of article VII of said charter is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:-

(d) Write-in or sticker candidate. A person receiving the highest number of votes for a Town office as a write-in or sticker candidate shall not be declared elected unless the number of votes received by that candidate is at least equal to the number of signatures of voters required to place the name of a candidate on the official ballot as provided in Section 7-3(a).

SECTION 7. Section 9-1(b)(iii) of article IX of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “ordinance” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- bylaw.

SECTION 8. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
