Bill S.2347

Notwithstanding any or special General law to the contrary any person convicted of a violation of the regulations under Massachusetts general law chapter 90 governing the operation of a motorized bicycle, motorized scooter, electric bicycle or moped shall be punished by a fine of $250 dollars for the first offense, $500 for the second offense, and $1000 for the third offense; all bike lane infrastructure planned and constructed by any agency, quasi public agency or political subdivision of the commonwealth must have a public hearing to be held by the agency prior to a contract is issued by the agency in charge of the planning and construction of said bike lane; no bike lane shall be approved or constructed using Chapter 90 funds that doesn’t have the approval of the commissioner of MassAbility or a local disabilities commission; the executive office of transportation and the executive office of public safety and security shall establish a task force to collaborate on updated regulations to improve enforcement of existing laws governing motorized bicycles, motorized scooters, electric bicycles and mopeds and establish updated rules of the road for motorized bicycles, motorized scooters, electric bicycles and mopeds; All motorized bicycles, motorized scooters, electric bicycles and mopeds used for commercial activity shall be required to have insurance;
