SENATE SUBSTITUTE FOR
HOUSE BILL NO. 4064
A bill to amend 1978 PA 472, entitled
"An act to regulate political activity; to regulate lobbyists,
lobbyist agents, and lobbying activities; to require registration
of lobbyists and lobbyist agents; to require the filing of reports;
to prescribe the powers and duties of the department of state; to
prescribe penalties; and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts,"
(MCL 4.411 to 4.431) by adding section 6c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 6c. (1) A member of the Michigan senate or house of 1
representatives shall not receive compensation, other than that 2
provided by law for a member of the Michigan senate or house of 3
representatives, for communicating directly with any of the 4
following for the purpose of influencing legislative or 5
administrative action: 6

(a) An official in the executive branch. 1
(b) An official in the legislative branch. 2
(c) An official in the executive branch of any other 3
government. 4
(d) An official in the legislative branch of any other 5
government. 6
(2) An individual who violates this section is guilty of a 7
misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or 8
a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both. 9
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect January 10
1, 2027. 11
