HOUSE BILL NO. 4733

A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled
"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"
by amending section 48721 (MCL 324.48721), as amended by 2018 PA
529.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 48721. (1) The commission shall issue an order under part 1
411 establishing possession limits of fish consistent with this 2
section. An individual shall not possess more than the daily 3
possession limit or aggregate daily possession limit, as 4
applicable, of fish at the place where the fish were taken or in en 5
route from that place to either of the following: 6
July 15, 2025, Introduced by Reps. Pavlov, Thompson, Linting, Kelly, Jenkins-Arno, Greene, St.
Germaine, Alexander and DeBoyer and referred to Committee on Natural Resources and
Tourism.

(a) His or her The individual's automobile or other principal 1
means of land transportation. 2
(b) His or her The individual's residence or temporary place 3
of lodging. 4
(2) In addition to 1 day's possession limit of fish, an 5
individual may possess an the following: 6
(a) Outside that individual's residence, an additional 2 days' 7
possession limit of fish that are processed by any of the following 8
methods: 9
(i) (a) Canning in a sealed container. 10
(ii) (b) Curing by smoking or drying. 11
(iii) (c) Freezing in a solid state. 12
(b) In that individual's residence, an unlimited number of 13
days' possession limits of fish that are processed by any of the 14
following methods: 15
(i) Canning in a sealed container. 16
(ii) Curing by smoking or drying. 17
(iii) Freezing in a solid state. 18
(3) An individual's processed fish aboard a vessel, on the 19
water or at dockside, are considered to be in the individual's 20
possession for the purposes of subsection (2)(a). 21
(4) An individual shall not possess a fish illegally taken. 22
