HOUSE BILL NO. 6085

A bill to amend 2006 PA 110, entitled
"Michigan zoning enabling act,"
(MCL 125.3101 to 125.3702) by adding section 205e.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 205e. (1) A zoning ordinance must not restrict the 1
connection of an accessory dwelling unit to the sewer system of the 2
dwelling unit to which the accessory dwelling unit is incidental if 3
both of the following apply: 4
(a) The accessory dwelling unit is owned by the same person as 5
June 16, 2026, Introduced by Reps. Martin and Meerman and referred to Committee on
Government Operations.

the dwelling unit to which the accessory dwelling unit is 1
incidental. 2
(b) The accessory dwelling unit is located on the same parcel 3
as the dwelling unit to which the accessory dwelling unit is 4
incidental. 5
(2) As used in this section, "accessory dwelling unit" means a 6
secondary dwelling unit, whether constructed on-site or off-site, 7
that is incidental to another dwelling unit located on the same 8
parcel of real property. 9
