HOUSE BILL NO. 6089

A bill to amend 1978 PA 454, entitled
"Truth in renting act,"
by amending section 4 (MCL 554.634).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 4. (1) A rental agreement shall state the must include 1
all of the following: 2
(a) The name and address at which notice required under this 3
act shall must be given to the lessor. 4
(b) (2) A rental agreement shall state notice in a prominent 5
place in type not smaller than the size of 12-point type, or in 6
June 16, 2026, Introduced by Reps. Dievendorf, Wegela, Byrnes, Price, Steckloff, Weiss,
McKinney, MacDonell, Pohutsky, B. Carter, Rheingans, Myers -Phillips, Tsernoglou, Wilson
and Coffia and referred to Committee on Government Operations.

substantially the following form: 2
"NOTICE: Michigan law establishes rights and obligations for 3
parties to rental agreements. This agreement is required to comply 4
with the Truth in Renting Act. If you have a question about the 5
interpretation or legality of a provision of this agreement, you 6
may want to seek assistance from a lawyer or other qualified 7
person." 8
(c) A statement that if the landlord intends to increase the 9
rent at the end of the lease, the landlord must provide a written 10
notice of the increase to the affected tenants at least 90 days 11
before the date the increased rent takes effect. 12
