HOUSE BILL NO. 6121
A bill to amend 1851 PA 151, entitled
"An act to provide for the government of the state university, and
to repeal chapter 57 of the Revised Statutes of 1846,"
by amending section 5 (MCL 390.5).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 5. (1) The Except as otherwise provided in subsection 1
(2), the regents shall have power to enact ordinances, by-laws, and 2
regulations for the government of the university; to elect a 3
president, to fix, increase, and reduce the regular number of 4
professors and tutors, and to appoint the same, and to determine 5

the amount of their salaries. : Provided, That However, there shall 1
must always be at least 1 professor of homeopathy in the department 2
of medicine. 3
(2) The regents shall comply with all local ordinances and 4
local zoning requirements for any land acquired by the regents on 5
or after January 1, 2027. 6
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect 7
unless House Joint Resolution X (request no. H06557'26) of the 8
103rd Legislature becomes a part of the state constitution of 1963 9
as provided in section 1 of article XII of the state constitution 10
of 1963. 11
