HOUSE BILL NO. 6210

A bill to amend 1982 PA 415, entitled
"Correctional officers' training act of 1982,"
by amending section 9 (MCL 791.509).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 9. Beginning 6 months after the effective date of this 1
act, a person shall September 30, 1983, an individual must not be a 2
state correctional officer unless he or she the individual is 3
certified or recertified by the Michigan commission of corrections 4
department as provided in section 10, 11, or 12. The Michigan 5
July 03, 2026, Introduced by Reps. Wilson, Pohutsky, Byrnes, Wegela, Dievendorf, Skaggs,
Rheingans and Weiss and referred to Committee on Government Operations.

commission of corrections department shall certify those persons 1
and annually recertify on an annual basis those persons individuals 2
who satisfy meet both of the following: 3
(a) Satisfy the criteria set forth in under sections 10 to 12. 4
(b) Beginning on the effective date of the amendatory act that 5
added this subdivision, were not previously employed by any of the 6
following agencies between September 1, 2025 and January 20, 2029: 7
(i) The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. 8
(ii) The United States Customs and Border Protection. 9
(iii) The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. 10
