SENATE BILL NO. 1033

A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled
"The insurance code of 1956,"
(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406qq.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 3406qq. (1) An insurer that delivers, issues for 1
delivery, or renews in this state a health insurance policy shall 2
provide coverage for insulin with no cost-sharing requirement for 3
the insured. 4
(2) An insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews 5
in this state a health insurance policy shall provide coverage of 6
June 10, 2026, Introduced by Senators GREENE and CAMILLERI and referred to Committee on
Health Policy.

medically necessary covered diabetes devices and diabetic 1
ketoacidosis devices, such as blood glucose test strips, 2
glucometers, continuous glucometers, lancets, or insulin syringes 3
with no cost-sharing requirement for the insured. 4
(3) As used in this section, "cost-sharing requirement" means 5
deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, out-of-pocket expenses, 6
aggregate lifetime limits, and annual limits. 7
