SENATE BILL NO. 1088

A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled
"The social welfare act,"
(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 10i.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 10i. (1) Beginning on the effective date of the 1
amendatory act that added this section, the department shall send 2
the benefit allotment and identity data of an individual who 3
receives supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits to the 4
United States Department of Agriculture, the Supplemental Nutrition 5
July 02, 2026, Introduced by Senator RUNESTAD and referred to Committee on Housing and
Human Services.

(2) The department shall submit quarterly reports to the 3
legislature that include all of the following information: 4
(a) The exact number of duplicate accounts flagged by the 5
department. 6
(b) The number of Social Security numbers of deceased 7
individuals that were used to apply for benefits under the 8
supplemental nutrition assistance program. 9
(c) The number of out-of-state transactions that were 10
identified and blocked. 11
(d) The total amount of improper payments that were recovered. 12
