SUBSTITUTE FOR
SENATE BILL NO. 466
A bill to amend 1971 PA 79, entitled
"Age of majority act of 1971,"
by amending sections 2 and 3 (MCL 722.52 and 722.53), section 2 as
amended by 1990 PA 104 and section 3 as amended by 2022 PA 170.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 2. (1) Except as otherwise provided in the state 1
constitution of 1963, and subsection (2), and section 3, 2
notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, a 3
person who is at least and beginning January 1, 1972, an individual 4
18 years of age on or after January 1, 1972, or older is an adult 5
of legal age for all purposes whatsoever, and shall have and has 6
the same duties, liabilities, responsibilities, rights, and legal 7
capacity as persons heretofore acquired at an individual 21 years 8

of age before January 1, 1972. 1
(2) A court may order support payments for a person an 2
individual 18 years of age or older as provided in 1 or more of the 3
following: 4
(a) Chapter 84 of the revised statutes of 1846, being sections 5

(b) The child custody act of 1970, Act No. 91 of the Public 8

(d) The paternity act, Act No. 205 of the Public Acts of 1956, 14
being sections 722.711 to 722.730 of the Michigan Compiled 15

Sec. 3. (1) This Except as provided in the state constitution 20
of 1963, subsection (2), and section 2, this act supersedes all 21
provisions of law that prescribe duties, liabilities, 22
responsibilities, rights, and legal capacity of individuals an 23
