SENATE BILL NO. 908

A bill to designate Lunar New Year as a holiday in this state.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. The legislature declares that the second new moon 1
after the winter solstice or the third new moon after the winter 2
solstice if an intercalary month intervenes, according to the 3
Chinese calendar, shall be known as "Lunar New Year", a holiday 4
celebrated by Michiganders of Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese, 5
Vietnamese, and other East or Southeast Asian origins. 6
April 21, 2026, Introduced by Senators CHANG, POLEHANKI, IRWIN, SHINK, CAVANAGH,
MCMORROW, BAYER, KLINEFELT and SINGH and referred to Committee on
Government Operations.
