relating to state government; requiring a study of the economic impact of a federal

immigration enforcement operation; appropriating money; requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY; APPROPRIATION.

$....... in fiscal year 2027 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of

management and budget to solicit proposals and contract with a nonpartisan entity to study

the economic impact of the federal immigration enforcement operation known as Operation

Metro Surge. The study must quantify economic impacts for the state, child care providers

and other businesses, counties, cities, school districts, and other impacted parties. No later

than February 1, 2027, the commissioner must submit the study report to the chairs and

ranking minority members of the Committee on Ways and Means in the house of

representatives and the Committee on Finance in the senate.
