A bill for an act

relating to the Metropolitan Council; authorizing the council to sell transit-related

merchandise, food, and beverages; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section

473.405, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 473.405, is amended by adding a subdivision

to read:

Certain sales authorized.

(a) The council may sell transit-related merchandise

at a retail establishment and through an online sales system. The council may also sell food,

beverages, and transit-related merchandise at transit stations. The council may enter into

agreements with private persons or entities to assist with marketing and sales authorized

under this subdivision.

(b) Net proceeds from sales authorized under this subdivision must be used to fund

improvements in the transportation capital improvement program.

EFFECTIVE DATE; APPLICATION.

This section is effective the day following

final enactment and applies in the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey,

Scott, and Washington.
