A bill for an act relating to child care; establishing a system for uploading child care provider slot availability to Parent Aware; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 142D.13, by adding a subdivision. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 142D.13, is amended by adding a subdivision to read: new text begin Subd. 5. new text end new text begin Slot availability data integration. new text end new text begin (a) By July 1, 2027, the commissioner shall create a method for automatically uploading child care slot availability data from the majority of child care providers' management software and display the up-to-date slot availability information on Parent Aware. The commissioner may use shared services grant money to assist providers in obtaining and training in software that can upload to Parent Aware under section 142D.22, subdivision 3, clause (7). new text end new text begin (b) The commissioner must ensure that the process under this subdivision only uploads data on slot availability and does not include any potentially confidential information. new text end Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION; CHILD CARE DATA INTEGRATION. new text end new text begin (a) $....... in fiscal year 2027 is appropriated to the commissioner of children, youth, and families to establish a method for automatically uploading child care slot availability data from child care provider management software pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 142D.13, subdivision 5.
