Prohibit screen time for children in preschool and kindergarten
A bill for an act relating to education; prohibiting screen time for children in preschool and kindergarten; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124D.166. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124D.166, is amended to read: 124D.166 deleted text begin LIMIT deleted text end new text begin PROHIBITION new text end ON SCREEN TIME FOR CHILDREN IN PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN. A child in a publicly funded preschool or kindergarten program may not use an individual-use screen, deleted text begin such as deleted text end new text begin including new text end a tablet, smartphone, or other digital media deleted text begin , without engagement from a teacher or other students deleted text end new text begin while at a school site new text end .
