HOUSE BILL NO. 1006

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CITY OF GULFPORT TO 1
ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WINTERIZATION OF HOMES 2
IN THE LOW-INCOME AREA IN CENTRAL GULFPORT KNOWN AS "THE QUARTER" 3
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 7
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the City of Gulfport, 8
Mississippi, to assist in paying costs associated with the 9
winterization of homes in the low-income area in central Gulfport 10
known as "The Quarter" for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, 11
and ending June 30, 2027............................... $300,000.00 12
As used in this section, the term "winterization" means 13
improving existing homes by making necessary repairs, upgrades and 14
energy efficiency improvements to help the home better withstand 15
the effects of winter weather. 16
SECTION 2. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 17
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 18
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 19

Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 20
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 21
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 22
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from 23
and after July 1, 2026. 24
