BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 14
SECTION 1. (1) There is created a Law Enforcement 15
Supplemental Pay Program to be administered by the Mississippi 16
Department of Public Safety to provide supplemental pay to local 17
law enforcement officers. 18
(2) In addition to the compensation now paid by any 19
municipality or county to any sworn, certified law enforcement 20
officer, every sworn, certified law enforcement officer employed 21
by any municipality or county which employs one or more sworn, 22
certified law enforcement officers who devotes his or her full 23

working time to law enforcement, shall be paid by the state extra 24
compensation in the amount of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) per 25
year for each full-time municipal or county sworn, certified law 26
enforcement officer who has completed or who hereafter completes 27
five (5) years of service as a sworn, certified law enforcement 28
officer. 29
(3) The five (5) years of service required under this 30
section shall include any service as a sworn, certified law 31
enforcement officer in the State of Mississippi. 32
(4) The supplemental pay provided by the state under this 33
section shall be supplemental to any other pay the law enforcement 34
officer has or would receive, and such supplemental pay may not be 35
used to reduce or in any way diminish the pay for that law 36
enforcement officer from any other funding sources. 37
(5) The Department of Public Safety shall adopt any rules or 38
regulations necessary to administer this section. 39
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 40
and after July 1, 2026. 41
