HOUSE BILL NO. 1182
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE PHARMACISTS TO PROVIDE IVERMECTIN TO 1
PATIENTS WHO ARE EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER PURSUANT TO A 2
VALID COLLABORATIVE PHARMACY PRACTICE AGREEMENT CONTAINING A 3
NON-PATIENT-SPECIFIC PRESCRIPTIVE ORDER AND STANDARDIZED 4
PROCEDURES DEVELOPED AND EXECUTED BY ONE OR MORE AUTHORIZED 5
PRACTITIONERS; TO DIRECT THE BOARD OF PHARMACY TO ADOPT RULES TO 6
ESTABLISH STANDARD PROCEDURES FOR THE PROVISION OF IVERMECTIN BY 7
PHARMACISTS, INCLUDING PROVIDING THE PATIENT WITH A SCREENING RISK 8
ASSESSMENT TOOL, PROVIDING THE PATIENT WITH A STANDARDIZED 9
FACTSHEET, AND EITHER DISPENSING THE IVERMECTIN OR REFERRING THE 10
PATIENT TO A PHARMACY THAT MAY DISPENSE THE MEDICATION AS SOON AS 11
PRACTICAL; TO AUTHORIZE THE CHARGING OF AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE FOR 12
SERVICES PROVIDED PURSUANT TO THIS ACT IN ADDITION TO COSTS 13
ASSOCIATED WITH THE DISPENSING OF IVERMECTIN AND PAID BY THE 14
PHARMACY BENEFIT; TO PROVIDE THAT A PHARMACIST OR PRACTITIONER 15
ACTING IN GOOD FAITH AND WITH REASONABLE CARE INVOLVED IN THE 16
PROVISION OF IVERMECTIN PURSUANT TO THIS ACT IS IMMUNE FROM 17
DISCIPLINARY OR ADVERSE ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS FOR ACTS OR 18
OMISSIONS DURING THE PROVISION OF IVERMECTIN; TO PROVIDE THAT A 19
PHARMACIST OR PRACTITIONER INVOLVED IN THE PROVISION OF IVERMECTIN 20
PURSUANT TO THIS ACT IS IMMUNE FROM CIVIL LIABILITY IN THE ABSENCE 21
OF GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT FOR ACTIONS AUTHORIZED 22
BY THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 23
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 24
SECTION 1. (1) A pharmacist, in good faith, may provide 25
ivermectin to a patient who is eighteen (18) years of age or older 26
pursuant to a valid collaborative pharmacy practice agreement 27
containing a non-patient-specific prescriptive order and 28

standardized procedures developed and executed by one (1) or more 29
authorized practitioners. 30
(2) The board shall adopt rules to establish standard 31
procedures for the provision of ivermectin by pharmacists, 32
including: 33
(a) Providing the patient with a screening risk 34
assessment tool; 35
(b) Providing the patient with a standardized factsheet 36
that includes, but is not limited to, the indications and 37
contraindications for use of ivermectin, the appropriate method 38
for using ivermectin, the importance of medical follow-up, and 39
other information deemed appropriate by the board; and 40
(c) Either dispensing the ivermectin or referring the 41
patient to a pharmacy that may dispense the medication as soon as 42
practical. 43
(3) A pharmacist, pharmacist's employer, or pharmacist's 44
agent may charge an administrative fee for services provided 45
pursuant to this section in addition to costs associated with the 46
dispensing of ivermectin and paid by the pharmacy benefit. 47
(4) A pharmacist or practitioner acting in good faith and 48
with reasonable care involved in the provision of ivermectin 49
pursuant to this section is immune from disciplinary or adverse 50
administrative actions under Title 73 of the Mississippi Code of 51
1972 for acts or omissions during the provision of ivermectin. 52

ST: Ivermectin; authorize pharmacists to
provide to adults pursuant to collaborative
pharmacy practice agreement.
(5) A pharmacist or practitioner involved in the provision 53
of ivermectin pursuant to this section is immune from civil 54
liability in the absence of gross negligence or willful misconduct 55
for actions authorized by this section. 56
SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall be codified as a new 57
section in Chapter 21, Title 73, Mississippi Code of 1972. 58
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from 59
and after July 1, 2026. 60
