HOUSE BILL NO. 1290

AN ACT TO REPEAL SECTIONS 27-19-21 AND 27-19-23, MISSISSIPPI 1
CODE OF 1972, WHICH IMPOSE AN ANNUAL TAX ON ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND 2
HYBRID VEHICLES IN ADDITION TO OTHER TAXES FOR WHICH THE VEHICLES 3
ARE LIABLE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. Sections 27-19-21 and 27-19-23, Mississippi Code 6
of 1972, which impose an annual tax on electric vehicles and 7
hybrid vehicles in addition to other taxes for which the vehicles 8
are liable, are repealed. 9
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 10
and after July 1, 2026. 11
