HOUSE BILL NO. 1425

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE EACH MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATURE TO HIRE A 1
PART-TIME LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 3
SECTION 1. Any person who is elected to the Mississippi 4
Legislature may recruit and hire a part-time legislative assistant 5
to serve in the State Capitol or in the member's home district for 6
such time as the member remains in office. The Legislature shall 7
appropriate funds as may be necessary for the employment of such 8
legislative assistants. 9
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 10
and after July 1, 2026. 11
