AN ACT TO CREATE THE LEGISLATIVE PUBLIC PROJECT GRANT PROGRAM 1
TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION OF THE 2
MISSISSIPPI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY; TO PROVIDE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT 3
OF CRITERIA FOR GRANTS; TO PROVIDE AN APPLICATION PROCESS; TO 4
PROVIDE THAT GRANT FUNDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE COUNTY IN 5
WHICH A PROJECT IS LOCATED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 6
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 7
SECTION 1. (1) There is created the Legislative Public 8
Project Grant Program to be administered by the Community Services 9
Division of the Mississippi Development Authority. Each 10
legislator is authorized to award a grant of Twenty-five Thousand 11
Dollars ($25,000.00) each year to be used for a public project in 12
the legislator's district. Grants from different legislators may 13
be combined for projects. 14
(2) In order to receive and award a grant, a legislator 15
shall submit an application to the Community Services Division of 16
the Mississippi Development Authority. The division shall 17
establish criteria for the awarding of grants under this section. 18
The division shall review the application and may award the grant 19

if the application complies with the criteria established by the 20
division. 21
(3) When a grant is awarded, the funds shall be distributed 22
to the county in which the project is located. The board of 23
supervisors shall distribute the funds for the project as directed 24
by the division. 25
(4) This section shall stand repealed from and after July 1, 26
2029. 27
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 28
and after July 1, 2026. 29
