HOUSE BILL NO. 1553

AN ACT TO NAME THE ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY BIOTECHNOLOGY 1
BUILDING AS THE "WILLIE L. SIMMONS BIOTECHNOLOGY BUILDING"; AND 2
FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 4
SECTION 1. Subject to approval by the Institutions of Higher 5
Learning, the Alcorn State University Biotechnology Building, 6
located at 1000 ASU Drive in Lorman, Jefferson County, 7
Mississippi, shall be named the "Willie L. Simmons Biotechnology 8
Building". 9
The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or 10
have prepared a distinctive plaque, to be placed in a prominent 11
place within the building, that states the background, 12
accomplishments and service of Willie L. Simmons, to Alcorn State 13
University and to the State of Mississippi. The Department of 14
Finance and Administration in conjunction with Alcorn State 15
University shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or 16
signage on the outdoor facade of the building displaying the 17
