AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE CONGREGATE MEAL PROGRAMS THAT RECEIVE FUNDS FROM THE SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM AND THAT SERVE HOT MEALS TO OLDER ADULTS IN GROUP SETTINGS TO MAKE HOT MEALS AVAILABLE TO ELIGIBLE OLDER ADULTS IN THEIR HOMES THAT ARE NOT MORE THAN TEN MILES FROM THE CONGREGATE SITE, EITHER BY DELIVERING THE MEALS TO THEIR HOMES OR PROVIDING THE MEALS TO CAREGIVERS OR OTHER PERSONS WHO CAN TAKE THE MEALS TO THEIR HOMES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE CONGREGATE MEAL PROGRAMS THAT RECEIVE 1

WHO CAN TAKE THE MEALS TO THEIR HOMES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 7
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 8
SECTION 1. Congregate meal programs that receive funds from 9
the Senior Nutrition Program through the area agencies on aging in 10
the state and that serve hot meals to older adults in group 11
settings are authorized to make hot meals available to eligible 12
older adults in their homes that are not more than ten (10) miles 13
from the congregate site, either by delivering the meals to their 14
homes or providing the meals to caregivers or other persons who 15
can take the meals to their homes. The purpose of this section is 16
to make hot meals available to older adults who are not able to 17
participate in the congregate setting. This section does not 18
mandate that congregate meal programs provide hot meals to 19

fully discretionary with the program. 21
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 22
and after July 1, 2026. 23
