HOUSE BILL NO. 1819

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES 1
FOR THE CITY OF LAUREL TO ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH 2
REFURBISHING PROJECTS ON THREE STREETS AND PROVIDING A WALKING 3
TRACK AND SPLASH PAD FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 7
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the governing authorities for 8
the City of Laurel, Mississippi, to assist in paying costs 9
associated with refurbishing projects on three (3) streets and 10
providing a walking track and splash pad, as provided in Section 2 11
of this act, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and 12
ending June 30, 2027............................... $ 13,850,000.00 13
SECTION 2. The funds appropriated by Section 1 of this act 14
shall be expended for the following purposes: 15
(a) Refurbishing 6th Street from 8th Avenue to 16th 16
Avenue.............................................. $ 6,500,000.00 17
(b) Refurbishing 6th Avenue from 5th Street to 13th 18
Street.............................................. $ 3,500,000.00 19

SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 25
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 26
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 27
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 28
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 29
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 30
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 31
and after July 1, 2026. 32
