HOUSE BILL NO. 1836

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF 1
STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING 2
FUNDING TO JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY FOR PHASE 1 OF THE PLANNING 3
AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW DORMITORY ON THE CAMPUS FOR THE FISCAL 4
YEAR 2027. 5
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 6
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 7
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 8
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Trustees of State 9
Institutions of Higher Learning for the purpose of providing 10
funding to Jackson State University for Phase 1 of the planning 11
and construction of a new dormitory on the campus for the fiscal 12
year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027............. 13

SECTION 2. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 15
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 16
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 17
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 18

her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 19
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 20
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from 21
and after July 1, 2026. 22
