HOUSE BILL NO. 1863

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES 1
OF THE CITY OF NATCHEZ TO ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH 2
THE DEMOLITION, RECONSTRUCTION AND REPLACEMENT OF THE CANAL STREET 3
BRIDGE IN THE CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury 7
to the credit of the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise 8
appropriated, to the governing authorities of the City of Natchez, 9
Mississippi, to assist in paying costs associated with the 10
demolition, reconstruction and replacement of the Canal Street 11
Bridge in the city for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and 12
ending June 30, 2027................................ $ 3,800,000.00 13
SECTION 2. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 14
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State Treasury to 15
the credit of the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise appropriated, 16
upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State 17
Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions 18

signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner 19
provided by law. 20
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from 21
and after July 1, 2026. 22
