HOUSE BILL NO. 1972

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES 1
OF THE TOWN OF BRUCE TO ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH 2
VARIOUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 4
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 5
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 6
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the governing authorities of 7
the Town of Bruce, Mississippi, to assist in paying costs 8
associated with various improvement projects as described in 9
Section 2 of this act for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, 10
and ending June 30, 2027.............................$1,650,000.00 11
SECTION 2. The money appropriated to the governing 12
authorities of the Town of Bruce under Section 1 of this act shall 13
be allocated as follows: 14
(a) One Hundred Twenty-five Thousand Dollars 15
($125,000.00) for costs associated with renovations to the town 16
square, including replacing the sprinkler system and making lot 17
improvements; 18

(b) Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) for 19
paying costs associated with water shut-off replacements; 20
(c) Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000.00) 21
for paying costs associated with the acquisition of a fire truck; 22
(d) Seventy-five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) for 23
paying costs associated with fencing improvements at the town 24
park, fencing improvements at the old National Guard Armory, and 25
lighting for soccer fields; 26
(e) Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00) 27
for paying costs associated with general water system line 28
repairs; and 29
(f) Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00) 30
for paying costs associated with sewer system repairs, upgrades 31
and improvements. 32
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 33
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 34
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 35
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 36
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 37
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 38
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 39
and after July 1, 2026. 40
