HOUSE BILL NO. 4140

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO JANICE 1
JOHNSON-BALL OF HARRISON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 3
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and 4
completely restored to Janice Johnson-Ball of Harrison County, 5
Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of her 6
conviction for the crime of Manslaughter in Harrison County, on 7
August 8, 1993, for which she was sentenced to serve twelve (12) 8
years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. 9
She was released from custody on July 29, 1998. She was sentenced 10
on February 19, 2001, for the charge of False Pretense, for which 11
she was sentenced to serve thirty-six (36) months of supervised 12
probation. 13
She was discharged from probation on February 25, 2004. The 14
Legislature is informed that she has since conducted herself as a 15
law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner. 16
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 17
and after its passage. 18
