HOUSE BILL NO. 4159

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO SYLVESTER 1
MONTGOMERY OF COPIAH COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 3
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and 4
completely restored to Sylvester Montgomery of Copiah County, 5
Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his 6
conviction for the crime of Burglary-Residential in Copiah County, 7
Mississippi, for which he was sentenced on April 26, 1990, to 8
serve five (5) years in the custody of Mississippi Department of 9
Corrections. On April 19, 1994, he was sentenced to serve five 10
(5) years in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections 11
for the crime of Burglary-Residential. On November 16, 2000, he 12
was sentenced to serve six (6) years in the custody of the 13
Mississippi Department of Corrections for the crime of 14
Embezzlement. 15
He was released on November 21, 2001. The Legislature is 16
informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and 17
honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner. 18
