HOUSE BILL NO. 4165

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO BRANDON SHELTON OF 1
LEE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 3
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and 4
completely restored to Brandon Shelton of Lee County, Mississippi, 5
who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction 6
for the crime of Burglary-Nonresidential in Lafayette County, on 7
January 3, 2018, for which he was sentenced to serve five (5) 8
years under the supervision of the Mississippi Department of 9
Corrections. He violated probation and probation was revoked. As 10
a result of such revocation, on October 21, 2019, he was sentenced 11
to serve five (5) years on House Arrest under the supervision of 12
the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was released on 13
January 19, 2021. He was sentenced to serve five (5) years for 14
the crime of Burglary-Vehicle in the custody of the Mississippi 15
Department of Corrections. 16

He was released on February 6, 2025. The Legislature is 17
informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and 18
honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner. 19
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 20
and after its passage. 21
