HOUSE BILL NO. 4166

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO JOSEPH EARL GREER 1
OF HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 3
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and 4
completely restored to Joseph Earl Greer of Hinds County, 5
Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his 6
conviction for the crime of Forgery on June 4, 1993, in Hinds 7
County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve six (6) 8
months in the custody of the Mississippi Department of 9
Corrections. On November 9, 2000, he was sentenced for the crime 10
of Grand Larceny in Rankin County, Mississippi, for five (5) years 11
on probation under the supervision of the Mississippi Department 12
of Corrections. On March 14, 2011, in Hinds County, Mississippi, 13
he was sentenced for the crime of Cocaine-Possession, for five (5) 14
years supervised probation under the Mississippi Department of 15
Corrections. 16
He was discharged on March 14, 2016, due to expiration of 17
sentence. The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted 18

himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and 19
lawful manner. 20
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 21
and after its passage. 22
