HOUSE BILL NO. 4175

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO CHARLES COVINGTON 1
OF LEE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 3
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and 4
completely restored to Charles Covington of Lee County, 5
Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his 6
convictions for the crimes of Burglary-Residential, two 7
indictments of Arson 3rd Degree in Lee County, on February 26, 8
2009. For the crime of Burglary-Residential, he was sentenced to 9
serve seven (7) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department 10
of Corrections. For the first charge for the crime of Arson 3rd 11
Degree, he was sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody 12
of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. For the second 13
charge for the crime of Arson 3rd Degree, he was sentenced to 14
serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department 15
of Corrections. 16
He was released to Earned Release Supervision on October 18, 17
2011. He was discharged on August 3, 2012. The Legislature is 18

informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and 19
honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner. 20
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 21
and after its passage. 22
