AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD OF PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO ADOPT A POLICY TO PROVIDE EMPLOYEES OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH COST-FREE ADMISSION INTO ALL SCHOOL-SPONSORED AND MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION GOVERNED ATHLETIC AND EXTRACURRICULAR EVENTS HOSTED BY THE DISTRICT, TO PROVIDE THAT THE POLICY MAY BE REFLECTED IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT; TO STIPULATE THAT COST-FREE ADMISSION SHALL ONLY BE APPLICABLE TO SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES AND NOT TRANSFERRABLE TO THIRD PARTIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD OF PUBLIC SCHOOL 1
DISTRICTS TO ADOPT A POLICY TO PROVIDE EMPLOYEES OF THE SCHOOL 2

AND EXTRACURRICULAR EVENTS HOSTED BY THE DISTRICT, TO PROVIDE THAT 5

CONTRACT; TO STIPULATE THAT COST-FREE ADMISSION SHALL ONLY BE 7
APPLICABLE TO SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES AND NOT TRANSFERRABLE TO 8

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 10
SECTION 1. (1) Beginning with the 2026-2027 academic term, 11
the local school board of each public school district shall adopt 12
a policy that authorizes each school under its jurisdiction to 13
provide employees of the school district with cost-free admission 14
into all school-sponsored and Mississippi High School Activities 15
Association governed athletic and extracurricular events hosted by 16
the school district of employment. For purposes of this section, 17
the policy may be reflected in the school district's employment 18
contracts entered into with instructional and noninstructional 19
employees, which shall consider such cost-free admission as 20
compensatory component of such employees' salary. The policy 21

shall further stipulate that the cost-free admission shall only be 22
applicable to the district employee and shall not be transferable 23
or extended to any other third party recipient, including spouses 24
or children. 25
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 26
and after July 1, 2026. 27
