AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 43-6-155, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, 1
TO REQUIRE PUBLIC CONVEYANCES AND BUSINESSES TO POST ANY CONDITION 2
OR RESTRICTIONS FOR ANIMALS IN A LOCATION THAT CAN BE SEEN BEFORE 3
ENTERING; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. Section 43-6-155, Mississippi Code of 1972, is 6
amended as follows: 7
43-6-155. (1) Any blind person, mobility impaired person, 8
armed services veteran diagnosed with PTSD or hearing impaired 9
person who uses a support animal specifically trained as a guide, 10
leader, listener or for any other necessary assistance in 11
day-to-day activities shall be entitled to the full and equal 12
accommodations, advantages, facilities and privileges of all 13
public conveyances, hotels, lodging places, businesses open to the 14
public for the sale of any goods or services and all places of 15
public accommodation, amusement, or resort and other places to 16
which the general public is invited, and may take the support 17
animal into conveyances and places, subject only to the conditions 18
and limitations applicable to all persons not so accompanied and 19

such conditions or restrictions are clearly posted in a manner 20
that allows them to be seen and read before entry, except that: 21
(a) The support animal shall not occupy a seat in any 22
public conveyance. 23
(b) The support animal shall be upon a leash or 24
otherwise sufficiently restrained in a manner appropriate for the 25
animal while using the facilities of a common carrier. 26
(2) Support animal trainers shall have the same rights of 27
accommodations, advantages, facilities and privileges with support 28
animals-in-training as those provided to blind persons, mobility 29
impaired persons, hearing impaired persons or veterans diagnosed 30
with PTSD with support animals under this section. 31
(3) No person shall deprive a blind person, mobility 32
impaired person, hearing impaired person, veteran diagnosed with 33
PTSD or a support animal trainer of any of the advantages, 34
facilities or privileges provided in this section, nor charge such 35
blind person, mobility impaired person, hearing impaired person, 36
veteran diagnosed with PTSD or support animal trainer a fee or 37
charge for the use of the animal. 38
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 39
and after July 1, 2026. 40
