HOUSE BILL NO. 658

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT 1
OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY AS FISCAL AGENT FOR THE OFFICE OF WORKFORCE 2
DEVELOPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE PARAMEDICS RECRUITMENT 3
AND RETENTION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 7
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Department of 8
Employment Security as fiscal agent for the Office of Workforce 9
Development for the purpose of funding the Paramedics Recruitment 10
and Retention Scholarship Program established by Sections 11
37-153-231 through 37-153-239, Mississippi Code of 1972, for the 12
fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027...... 13

SECTION 2. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 15
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 16
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 17
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 18

her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 19
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 20
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from 21
and after July 1, 2026. 22
