HOUSE BILL NO. 802

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF 1
HUMPHREYS COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDING TO ASSIST IN 2
COST SHARE NEEDS FOR CERTAIN RECOVERY PROJECTS FOLLOWING THE 2023 3
TORNADO FOR FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 7
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Supervisors of 8
Humphreys County, Mississippi, for the purpose of providing 9
funding assistance in Cost Share Needs for projects more 10
specifically described in Section 2 for the fiscal year beginning 11
July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027............................ 12

SECTION 2. The funding appropriated by this act is to 14
provide assistance in Cost Share Needs for projects necessary to 15
continue recovery efforts in response to the EF4 tornado that 16
devastated areas of Humphreys County on March 24, 2023, which 17
projects include: 18

(a) Existing debris removal (twenty-five percent (25%) 19
cost share for cleanup); 20
(b) Repairs to damaged roads; 21
(c) Replacement of county equipment; 22
(d) Construction of a new county barn and fire station; 23
(e) Restoration of housing; 24
(f) Emergency 911 interoperability upgrades; and 25
(g) A community development center. 26
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 27
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 28
not otherwise appropriated upon warrants issued by the State 29
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 30
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 31
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 32
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 33
and after July 1, 2026. 34
