HOUSE BILL NO. 972

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF 1
STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL 2
FUNDING TO MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY - COOPERATIVE EXTENSION 3
SERVICE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSISTING WITH COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH 4
ADMINISTERING THE MISSISSIPPI YOUTH PREPAREDNESS INITIATIVE FOR 5
THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 6
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 7
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 8
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 9
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Trustees of State 10
Institutions of Higher Learning to provide funding to Mississippi 11
State University - Cooperative Extension Service, in addition to 12
the funding provided to Mississippi State University by the board 13
of trustees from funds appropriated for the general support of the 14
eight (8) universities for fiscal year 2027, for the purpose of 15
assisting with costs associated with administering the Mississippi 16
Youth Preparedness Initiative, for the fiscal year beginning July 17
1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027................... $ 100,000.00. 18
SECTION 2. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 19
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 20

not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 21
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his 22
warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or 23
officers in the manner provided by law. 24
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from 25
and after July 1, 2026. 26
