Amend Section 34, Mississippi Constitution of 1890, to read 9
as follows: 10
"Section 34. The Mississippi House of Representatives shall 11
consist of members chosen every four (4) years by the qualified 12
electors of the several * * * districts. A person elected as a 13
member of the House of Representatives is eligible to succeed 14
himself or herself in office; however, any person who is elected 15
as a member of the House of Representatives for the first time on 16
or after January 1, 2027, is not eligible to serve again in the 17
House of Representatives after serving three (3) full terms. Any 18
years served by a member elected to fill a vacancy in office for 19
less than two (2) years of a term shall not be included in the 20
three-term limitation set forth in this section." 21

Amend Section 35, Mississippi Constitution of 1890, to read 22
as follows: 23
"Section 35. The Mississippi Senate shall consist of members 24
chosen every four (4) years by the qualified electors of the 25
several districts. A person elected as a member of the Senate is 26
eligible to succeed himself or herself in office; however, any 27
person who is elected as a member of the Senate for the first time 28
on or after January 1, 2027, is not eligible to serve again in the 29
Senate after serving three (3) full terms. Any years served by a 30
member elected to fill a vacancy in office for less than two (2) 31
years of a term shall not be included in the three-term limitation 32
set forth in this section." 33
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That these proposed amendments shall 34
be submitted by the Secretary of State to the qualified electors 35
at an election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first 36
Monday of November 2026, as provided by Section 273 of the 37
Constitution and by general law, with the amendments in this 38
resolution being voted on as one (1) amendment. 39
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the explanation of this proposed 40
amendment for the ballot shall read as follows: "This proposed 41
constitutional amendment provides that a person who is elected as 42
a member of the House of Representatives or the Senate is eligible 43
to succeed himself or herself in office; however, a person who is 44
elected as a member of the House of Representatives or the Senate 45
for the first time on or after January 1, 2027, is not eligible to 46
