WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the significance 3
of Juneteenth Homecoming Weekend in celebrating freedom, 4
empowerment and unity; and 5
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the valuable 6
contributions and heritage of its citizens with Mississippi roots 7
throughout the United States; and 8
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the economic 9
benefits derived from the return of its citizens with Mississippi 10
roots, which contribute to the economic impact and growth of the 11
state; and 12
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the potential 13
for new business opportunities and investment considerations that 14
arise from the return of its citizens with Mississippi roots; and 15
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the potential 16
for return migration to Mississippi, leading to potential growth 17

cultural tourism, hospitality, sports and outdoor recreation 23
revenue, enhancing the visibility and economic prosperity of the 24
state; and 25
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi is committed to 26
strengthening and stabilizing a growth strategy for technology 27
workforce development in the state, ensuring a competitive edge in 28
the digital age; and 29
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi is dedicated to positioning 30
and strengthening state public schools to achieve positive 31
outcomes in areas of achievement and learning, ensuring a bright 32
future for the youth of Mississippi: 33
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 34
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 35
THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and celebrate Mississippi 36
Juneteenth Homecoming Weekend 2026. 37
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 38
furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 39
