HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 52
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 1
NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHEER TEAM FOR ITS 2
MULTIPLE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND CONTINUED EXCELLENCE AT THE 3
2026 UCA AND UDA COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ORLANDO, 4
FLORIDA. 5
WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer 6
Team, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Brandon Casey 7
and Assistant Coach Rainy Bordelon, has once again demonstrated 8
elite competitive excellence by earning multiple top finishes at 9
the 2026 UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National 10
Championships, held in Orlando, Florida; and 11
WHEREAS, at the 2026 national competition, the Northwest 12
Cheer Team captured 1st place in the Open Co-Ed Game Day division, 13
securing a back-to-back national championship in the division and 14
reaffirming the program's dominance on the national stage; and 15
WHEREAS, the Northwest Cheer Team also earned a 1st place 16
finish in the Open All-Girl Cheer division, achieving a three-peat 17
national championship, an extraordinary accomplishment that 18

reflects sustained excellence, discipline, and competitive 19
consistency; and 20
WHEREAS, the team further added to its national success by 21
earning a 1st place finish in the Open Small Coed Cheer division, 22
showcasing the depth, versatility, and talent across the program; 23
and 24
WHEREAS, the Northwest Cheer Team also recorded a 2nd place 25
national finish in the Open All-Girl Game Day division, 26
underscoring the team's ability to compete at the highest level 27
across multiple competitive formats; and 28
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Brandon Casey, 29
the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer program has now 30
achieved nine national championships, establishing itself as one 31
of the most successful collegiate cheer programs in the nation; 32
and 33
WHEREAS, the achievements of the Northwest Cheer Team reflect 34
the hard work, dedication, teamwork, and character of its 35
student-athletes, while bringing significant pride and recognition 36
to Northwest Mississippi Community College and to the State of 37
Mississippi; and 38
WHEREAS, the continued success of the Northwest Cheer Team is 39
a testament to the unwavering support of its coaches, families, 40
college administration and the entire Northwest Ranger community; 41
and 42

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize 43
and commend excellence in collegiate athletics, particularly when 44
student-athletes bring distinction, honor, and national 45
recognition to their institution and to the State of Mississippi: 46
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 47
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 48
THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest 49
Mississippi Community College Cheer Team for its outstanding 50
achievements at the 2026 UCA and UDA College National 51
Championships, including back-to-back and three-peat national 52
championship performances, and extend best wishes for continued 53
success in all future competitions. 54
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 55
furnished to Head Coach Brandon Casey, Assistant Coach Rainy 56
Bordelon, Northwest Mississippi Community College President Dr. 57
Michael Heindl, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 58
