A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 1
NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE RANGERS WOMEN'S SOCCER 2
TEAM FOR CAPTURING BACK-TO-BACK NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE ATHLETIC 3
ASSOCIATION (NJCAA) CHAMPIONSHIPS AND EARNING THE HIGHEST TEAM GPA 4
IN THE NATION. 5
WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers 6
Women's Soccer Team achieved extraordinary distinction during the 7
2025 season by capturing its second consecutive National Junior 8
College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National 9
Championship, establishing the team as one of the premier 10
collegiate soccer programs in the nation; and 11
WHEREAS, the Rangers completed the 2025 season with an 12
outstanding overall record of 21 wins, one loss and one draw, 13
demonstrating sustained excellence, resilience and competitive 14
dominance throughout regular season play, conference competition, 15
regional tournaments and national postseason play; and 16
WHEREAS, Northwest Mississippi Community College became the 17
only NJCAA Division II women's soccer program to win back-to-back 18
national championships since the division's inception, further 19

solidifying the program's place in national collegiate athletic 20
history; and 21
WHEREAS, the Rangers also captured their third consecutive 22
Region 23 Championship, advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament 23
for the fourth straight season, and reached the national 24
championship match for the second consecutive year, underscoring a 25
standard of consistent excellence rarely achieved at the 26
collegiate level; and 27
WHEREAS, in addition to their athletic success, the Northwest 28
Mississippi Community College Women's Soccer Team distinguished 29
itself in the classroom by earning the highest team grade point 30
average in the nation, exemplifying the ideal of the true student-31
athlete and proving that academic excellence and athletic 32
achievement can and do coexist; and 33
WHEREAS, the Rangers' academic accomplishments reflect a 34
culture of discipline, accountability and commitment to 35
educational success, supported by dedicated faculty, academic 36
advisors, athletic trainers and institutional leadership; and 37
WHEREAS, Head Coach James Beattie, along with his coaching 38
staff, have provided exceptional leadership, mentorship and 39
vision, guiding the program to sustained national prominence while 40
emphasizing character, teamwork and academic responsibility and 41
earning numerous coaching honors as a result; and 42
WHEREAS, the success of the Rangers Women's Soccer Team 43
brings great pride to Northwest Mississippi Community College, its 44

students, alumni and supporters and serves as a powerful example 45
of the positive impact Mississippi's community colleges have on 46
workforce preparation, leadership development and national 47
recognition; and 48
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize 49
the accomplishments of talented student-athletes such as the 50
Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Women's Soccer 51
Team, whose accomplishments reflect favorably on the State of 52
Mississippi and demonstrate that Mississippi institutions can not 53
only compete, but excel at the highest levels, both academically 54
and athletically: 55
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 56
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 57
THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest 58
Mississippi Community College Rangers Women's Soccer Team on 59
winning back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association 60
(NJCAA) Division II National Championships and for earning the 61
highest team GPA in the nation and recognize the players, coaches, 62
staff and administrators whose dedication and excellence made 63
these achievements possible. 64
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we do hereby extend to the 65
members of the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers 66
Women's Soccer Team sincerest wishes for continued success in all 67
their future academic and athletic endeavors. 68
