CONTINUING A CHAMPIONSHIP LEGACY WITH A THREE-PEAT VICTORY IN THE 4
OPEN HIP-HOP DIVISION. 5
WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Dance 6
Team, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Patrice 7
Christian, has once again demonstrated elite skill and ability by 8
earning top national honors at the 2026 Universal Dance 9
Association (UDA) College Dance Team National Championships in 10
Orlando, Florida; and 11
WHEREAS, at this year's national competition, the Northwest 12
Dance Team captured a first place victory in the Open Hip-Hop 13
division, securing their third consecutive championship title in 14
the division and establishing a historic three-peat triumph at the 15
national level; and 16
WHEREAS, the Northwest Dance Team also earned a third place 17
national finish in the Open Game Day Dance division, showcasing 18

versatility, depth and competitive distinction in a highly 19
talented national field; and 20
WHEREAS, the key to this dynamic team's championship success 21
has been the countless hours of preparation, discipline, 22
sportsmanship and dedication of each team member, culminating in 23
exceptional routines that exemplify the highest standards of 24
collegiate athletics and artistic performance; and 25
WHEREAS, guided by the vision and leadership of Head Coach 26
Patrice Christian, the Northwest Mississippi Community College 27
Dance program has earned three national championships in the past 28
four years, marking a period of unprecedented achievement and a 29
rapid ascent to national prominence; and 30
WHEREAS, the Northwest Dance Team roster represents a diverse 31
and gifted group of student-athletes from across Mississippi and 32
neighboring states, reflecting the broad reach, appeal and 33
competitive spirit of the program; and 34
WHEREAS, the continued success of the Northwest Dance Team is 35
made possible through the unwavering support of the team's 36
coaches, families, college administration and the entire Northwest 37
Ranger community; and 38
WHEREAS, the members of this team will surely carry the 39
unforgettable memories they have made, as well as the lessons of 40
teamwork, commitment and perseverance they have learned, 41
throughout their lives as they remember the feeling of greatness 42
that accompanies being a champion; and 43

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize 44
and commend excellence in collegiate athletics, especially that 45
displayed by the Northwest Mississippi Community College Dance 46
Team, whose accomplished members bring distinction, honor and 47
national recognition to their institution and to the State of 48
Mississippi: 49
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 50
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 51
THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest 52
Mississippi Community College Dance Team for their national 53
championship performance at the 2026 Universal Dance Association 54
(UDA) College Nationals, including a three-peat national title in 55
the Open Hip-Hop division, and extend our best wishes for 56
continued success in all future competitions and endeavors. 57
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 58
furnished to Head Coach Patrice Christian, Northwest Mississippi 59
Community College President Dr. Michael Heindl, and to the members 60
of the Capitol Press Corps. 61
