HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 59
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING 1
AUTOMOBILE DEALER JONATHAN ALLEN UPON HIS NOMINATION FOR THE 2
PRESTIGIOUS 2026 TIME DEALER OF THE YEAR AWARD IN RECOGNITION OF 3
HIS INDUSTRY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY OF 4
GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI. 5
WHEREAS, from his business ventures to his personal 6
endeavors, Jonathan Allen, dealer principal at J. Allen Toyota in 7
Gulfport, Mississippi, embodies excellence in every facet of his 8
life, evidenced by his nomination for the 2026 TIME Dealer of the 9
Year Award on October 16, 2025; and 10
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen was one of a select group of nominees from 11
across the country honored at the 109th annual National Automobile 12
Dealers Association (NADA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 13
5, 2026, where the 57th annual award was presented; and 14
WHEREAS, the TIME Dealer of the Year Award is among the 15
automobile industry's most prestigious and highly coveted honors, 16
and recipients of the award are among the nation's most successful 17
auto dealers who have also demonstrated a long-standing commitment 18
to community service; and 19

WHEREAS, Mr. Allen, who was chosen to represent the 20
Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association in the national 21
competition, was selected as one of only 47 nominees from more 22
than 20,000 auto dealers nationwide; and 23
WHEREAS, as a third-generation dealer, Mr. Allen has spent 24
his life carrying forward a proud family legacy of business savvy 25
and responsibility, while modernizing its mission in today's 26
evolving economy; and 27
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen earned a bachelor's degree in automotive 28
management and marketing from Northwood University in 2007, and he 29
began his career in sales and service before returning home to 30
Gulfport to join the family business; and 31
WHEREAS, earning a reputation amongst his peers as an expert 32
in his field, Mr. Allen is an active member of the Mississippi 33
Automobile Dealers Association and has served in several 34
leadership positions, including as chairman in 2022, vice chairman 35
in 2021, and treasurer in 2020; and 36
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen has effectively maintained the J. Allen 37
Toyota franchise and expanded into Ford and Mazda in 2023, finding 38
great success in the industry through exemplary diligence and hard 39
work; and 40
WHEREAS, beyond being a business leader, Mr. Allen is a 41
leader in his community, investing his time and effort into local 42
organizations to make the community stronger, and he has served as 43
president of the Rotary Club of Gulfport, as a board member for 44

the Boy Scouts of America, and as chair of the American Heart 45
Association Heart Walk; and 46
WHEREAS, Mr. Allen knows car dealers are pillars of the local 47
economy and culture, and he has found ways to use his business to 48
support individuals in need, including bringing Project SEARCH, 49
which provides real-life workplace experience to young adults with 50
intellectual and developmental disabilities, to J. Allen Toyota, 51
making the store the first automotive partner in the world to host 52
the program; and 53
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize 54
and commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as 55
Mr. Allen, whose dedication to his trade and his community brings 56
immense pride and honor to this great Magnolia State: 57
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 58
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 59
THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate automobile 60
dealer Jonathan Allen upon his nomination for the prestigious 2026 61
TIME Dealer of the Year Award in recognition of his industry 62
accomplishments and service to the community of Gulfport, 63
Mississippi, and extend best wishes for continued success in all 64
his future endeavors. 65
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 66
furnished to Jonathan Allen and to the members of the Capitol 67
Press Corps. 68
