A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MISSISSIPPI 1
GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE MEN'S GOLF TEAM FOR WINNING A SECOND 2
CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (NJCAA) 3
DIVISION II MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Men's 5
Golf Team had a record-breaking year by winning the program's 6
third national championship, along with the NJCAA District D 7
Tournament for the 16th time in the last 17 events, and claiming 8
10 tournaments during the year; and 9
WHEREAS, for his efforts in leading the Bulldogs to such 10
heights, Head Coach Brad Thornton was named the Dave Williams 11
National Coach of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of 12
America for the second straight year; and 13
WHEREAS, for their efforts on the course, Stanley Campbell 14
won the Arnold Palmer Award for medalist at the NJCAA Division II 15
Men's Golf Championship and was named NJCAA All-American First 16
Team, Ping All-American First Team, College Sports Communicators 17
Academic All-American First Team and the Hubert Tucker Award for 18
best scoring average in MACCC play; John Mark Mills was named Ping 19

All-American First Team, NJCAA All-American Second Team, College 20
Sports Communicators Academic All-American First Team, Titan 21
Winter Invitational Medalist and Bulldog Spring Invitational 22
Medalist; Ludvig Behring was named NJCAA All-American First Team, 23
Ping All-South Region, College Sports Communicators Second Team 24
and MACCC Tournament Medalist; Peyton Russell was named Ping 25
All-American Honorable Mention and Hinds Invitational Medalist; 26
Garner Seymour had two top-10 finishes and played at the NJCAA 27
Championship; Harlan Yerger had one top-five finish and two top-15 28
finishes and earned Academic All-MACCC; Seth Lockart had one 29
top-20 finish; Andrew Miller had one top-20 finish and earned 30
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team; and 31
WHEREAS, for their efforts in the classroom, the team earned 32
NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention; and 33
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 34
recognize and commend superb accomplishments of student-athletes 35
whose efforts on and off the course bring honor to their school, 36
their families and to the State of Mississippi: 37
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 38
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 39
commend and congratulate the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community 40
College Men's Golf Team upon winning the national championship and 41
extend to them heartiest wishes of success in all their future 42
endeavors. 43
