HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 106
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. HAROLD D. 1
MILLER III, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER OVER 50 2
YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY. 3
WHEREAS, Harold D. Miller III, known to most as "Hal Miller", 4
stands out as a distinguished figure in the trucking industry, and 5
he plans to retire after over 50 years of outstanding service; and 6
WHEREAS, carrying forward a legacy of leadership, Mr. Miller 7
has served the trucking industry for more than 53 years, and as he 8
is known for his strategic vision and unwavering commitment to 9
excellence, his dedication to integrity and ability to inspire 10
collaborative success has made him a pivotal influence in his 11
professional sphere and a respected mentor to those around him; 12
and 13
WHEREAS, born in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1961, Mr. Miller's 14
career began in 1973, as a young boy assisting the yard man at 15
Miller Transporters, a family-owned business and one of the 16
largest tank truck carriers in the country; and 17

WHEREAS, after graduating college from the University of 18
Mississippi in 1983, Mr. Miller would go on to spend most of his 19
career at Miller Transporters in various roles until eventually 20
becoming the Executive Vice President of the company; and 21
WHEREAS, during his tenure at Miller Transporters, Mr. Miller 22
was elected as the Regional Director for the National Tank Truck 23
Carriers and served on the Mississippi Trucking Association Board 24
of Directors, including as Chairman of the Board in 1994-1995; and 25
WHEREAS, after 30 successful years at Miller Transporters, 26
Mr. Miller decided to embark on a second career as president of 27
the Mississippi Trucking Association, a trade association 28
dedicated to serving and promoting the motor carrier industry as a 29
trusted resource for safety, education, advocacy and members 30
services; and 31
WHEREAS, in 2018, Mr. Miller was awarded one of Mississippi's 32
Top CEOs in the State of Mississippi by the Mississippi Business 33
Journal, and in 2025, the American Trucking Association Executives 34
Council recognized him with the President's Leadership Award, one 35
of its highest honors in the industry; and 36
WHEREAS, after more than 50 years of dedication to the 37
trucking industry, Mr. Miller has decided that it is time to write 38
a new chapter of life, one that includes making more memories with 39
his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Tricia Toler Miller, three sons, their 40
wives and six grandchildren; and 41

WHEREAS, on July 1, 2026, Mr. Miller will officially retire 42
from the workforce but will always be on standby to help as 43
needed, and this has been his life's mantra as well as his 44
father's: "People are important. They are God's gift to each 45
other"; and 46
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 47
recognize and commend remarkable Mississippians like Mr. Miller, 48
whose outstanding service and efforts have brought honor to the 49
trucking industry and to the State of Mississippi: 50
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 51
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 52
commend and congratulate Mr. Harold D. Miller III, upon the 53
occasion of his retirement, express deepest gratitude for his 54
years of distinguished service, and extend to him warmest wishes 55
for continued success and happiness in the years to come. 56
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 57
furnished to Mr. Harold D. Miller III, and to the members of the 58
Capitol Press Corps. 59
