A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING EVAN CARR, OF THE 1
MADISON-RIDGELAND ACADEMY PATRIOTS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM, FOR HIS 2
OUTSTANDING EFFORTS DURING THE 2025-2026 BASKETBALL SEASON. 3
WHEREAS, Evan Carr, of the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots 4
Boys Basketball Team, demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork and 5
determination on the court during the 2025-2026 basketball season; 6
and 7
WHEREAS, Madison-Ridgeland Academy completed the 2025-2026 8
season with a 37-2 record, the best record in the program's 9
history, while riding a 19-game winning streak into the 10
championship and earning recognition as one of the premier high 11
school basketball teams in the State of Mississippi; and 12
WHEREAS, the Patriots concluded their remarkable season with 13
a decisive 65-53 victory over Jackson Academy in the Midsouth 14
Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Overall State Tournament 15
championship game at Mississippi College's A.E. Wood Coliseum in 16
Clinton, Mississippi, before a crowd of thousands of enthusiastic 17
supporters; and 18

WHEREAS, throughout his season of play with the Patriots, 19
Evan played with clear eyes, a full heart and unimaginable amounts 20
of fortitude, and during the state championship game, his mental 21
stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment he 22
first hustled onto the court until the final buzzer buzzed, as he 23
outlasted, outplayed and ultimately overpowered his opponent; and 24
WHEREAS, Evan has been superbly coached and inspired by Head 25
Coach Richard Duease, who has broadened his knowledge of the game 26
and refined his skills in execution, and he continues to build 27
upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by 28
Evan's tenacious and undaunted spirit; and 29
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 30
recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by 31
Evan Carr, who has brought honor to Madison-Ridgeland Academy and 32
to the State of Mississippi: 33
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 34
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 35
recognize and commend Evan Carr for his outstanding efforts during 36
the 2025-2026 basketball season, and extend best wishes for 37
continued success in all his future endeavors. 38
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 39
furnished to Evan Carr and to the members of the Capitol Press 40
